Ottaipnu Morinonaka (In the Forest) MT Washi Tape
Colorful and simple, washi tape can be torn by hand and is easy to reposition. The tape can be used on paper, objects and walls. Washi tape is ideal for temporary decoration, for tiny objects to entire rooms, and for ordinary or special occasions throughout the day, from sealing a lunch bag to making a wrapped gift look special. Not only that but it is made from paper so it is biodegradable and compostable.
This washi tape design is a part of a special collaboration with Japanese graphic designer Masaru Suzuki who founded the Ottaipnu, a textile company. His style of design is know for using bold patterns and colorful, vivid layered pattern combinations creating brilliance through layers of color. Most of his motifs are inspired by nature, plants, and animals. This approach to design brings warm energy and lively atmosphere into Ottaipnu's line of towels, bathmats, umbrellas, handkerchiefs, and washi tape resulting in functional products for everyday use.

Meet the Makers
MT is the original brand of washi paper masking tape, created by the 100 year old paper adhesives company Kamoi Kakoshi and produced in Japan. In 2006, the company offered a tour to three women in Tokyo who were using their industrial tapes for beautiful craft projects. Amazed by this surprising and wonderful usage, Kamoi Kakoshi was inspired to develop an entirely new and original category of tape: MT brand washi tape. The superior level of ‘just right’ adhesion allows MT to be easily repositioned on most objects and to be used on painted walls without damaging paint.
