Tsumugu Handkerchiefs

Tsumugu Handkerchiefs from Nukumori Koubou are made from Enshu Cotton Tsumugi a handwoven and highly durable Japanese cotton. Nukumori Koubou would like to protect and preserve the traditional methods of Enshu Cotton Tsumugi as a fabric that weaves the thoughts of artisans, connects with people's lives, and weaves the future. The Enshu region of Japan is blessed with a warm climate and rich nature, making it suitable for cotton production and since the Edo period it has flourished as one of the three major cotton producing areas. Making use of colors that evoke a sense of Japan, over 1,000 striped patterns have been invented to date. The "warmth" born from the handiwork of artisans has been passed down from person to person through the ages.
