The Far Woods

The Far Woods is a creative studio founded by sisters Sonya and Nina Montenegro, whose artwork explores nature, food, community, and our relationship with the land. Their multidisciplinary practice is rooted in a desire for a more ecologically sustainable and socially just future, challenging disposable culture while encouraging greater connection to where our food and everyday goods come from. Many of their artworks serve as educational tools and invitations to deepen our relationship with the natural world. The sisters also acknowledge and honor the Indigenous communities whose ancestral lands they live and work on, recognizing the histories and ongoing presence of these communities.
