It's Just Chai! | Nail Polish

It's Just Chai Nail Polish is here to tell the story of the creation of chai and the confusion that westerners have when ordering it! A lovely light brown color reminiscent of the milky spicy drink. 

Them: “I’ll have a chai tea, please.” …. Us: “It’s Just Chai!” Chai literally means “tea” in Hindi. Therefore, it’s unnecessary to say “chai tea”. Also known as Masala Chai (spiced/spice-blend tea), the recipe varies depending on the region, climate, and cultural preferences. Legend has it that nearly 5000 years ago, the ancient King Harshavardhana requested a combination of warm spices and herbs to drink for medicinal purposes and to stay alert during long court sessions, which also became the basis of Ayurveda healing. The story becomes more complex as actual tea leaves were not introduced into chai until much later. In the early 1800s, the British began trading tea with China and introduced tea to the Western world. And from there the confusion began.

People of Color Beauty was founded by Jacqueline Carrington, who growing up never saw images of nail polish reflected on her skin tone or the skin tones of other girls and women she knew, which made her skip nail polish all together. When her 3-year old daughter Monroe started coming home with painted nails after visits with her GiGi, Jacqueline was inspired to make sure that her daughter had an experience very different from her own.

When she started People of Color she knew that the most important commitment she wanted to make was to showcase the many skin tones within brown communities all over the world in both color selection and product marketing.  She wanted to make a nail polish brand that was made to complement the various shades of brown skin and for those skin tones to be represented in all advertising for the products. People of Color® is nail polish for "People of Color and those who live in color”
