Meet the Makers
Saturn Press was started in 1985 when Jim van Pernis secured his first 1932 Miehle V45 printing press and brought it to his garage on Swan's Island, Maine. The company began as a small operation, but eventually grew to include more people and a larger space.
Saturn Press is known for taking things slow and honoring the traditions of paper-making and printing. They source paper from a sustainable, family-run mill and take extra care to make sure the paper has the perfect texture to take the custom blended paints that they use. The company's cards are known for their unique images and vivid colors. Some customers frame their cards and hang them as wall art. To learn more about the origins of Saturn Press click here.
When I first heard of Saturn Press they were only reachable by phone or snail mail. They have since modernized when the company sold to James and Dierdre Anderson bought it and moved the press to Kent, Connecticut. The same quaint process and design work in place with some special modern touches, like email!
