Tote Bags: the perfect practical accessory!

I woke up this morning thinking about tote bags. Probably because we restocked one of my favorite tote bags yesterday, the Morita Miw Rabbit Purple tote with short handles. This bag is not only cute, like every tote bag should be, but it is nice and sturdy, has an inside pocket and short handles which makes the carrying style versatile.

I distinctly remember when I transitioned to using a tote bag as an everyday bag to carry my stuff, like a purse. It was during covid. I think like a lot of people so many things in my life shifted to a more casual vibe. So rather than carrying a purse that was the same day in and day out I started using different tote bags that were lighter and that I could change based on my mood. Of course, I already had quite a collection but transitioning to using them everyday meant that I had an excuse to add more into my life.

One thing I started to appreciate almost immediately is that I always had a bag with me that could carry more than my wallet and keys. This was super helpful in those moments where I found myself "needing a bag". I didn't have to remember to bring a bag into a store I just had it already there with me.

But the even more exciting thing to me was that my tote bag became an ever changing accessory. One that was easy to switch out and one that served a practical purpose. It should be no surprise that my most favorite accessory would also be something that is also helpful and useful.

You may have noticed how many businesses have tote bags and often small business tote bags are designed by local artists. In fact this can sometimes be a fun way to support a small business and an artist. For instance, both our Pink Moon Goods tote bag and our "Modern Witch" tote bag are designed by my friend Katie. I admit that great artwork on a tote bag will hook me every time. No matter how many bags I have and how few I actually need if I see a tote bag with great art it is mine without a second thought.

Many purses are made from materials that are somewhat difficult to care for like leather. The great thing about tote bags is that they are made from sturdy materials like cotton, canvas, or linen. These fabrics are all very machine washable which makes cleaning them a breeze. I have honestly been so surprised at how well my Linen Tales linen tote bag has held up to the heavy use and how well it comes out after a good washing. Just like any good linen product it is built to last and durable as heck.

Just like a t-shirt a tote bag can also be a kind of statement piece that signals to folks around you the things you believe. This Power Button Tote bag is a great example. Inspired by campaign and activist buttons in the archives of the National Museum of African American Culture and History, these tote bag will definitely send a clear message to folks around you of who you are and what you stand for!

All that being said, tote bags are probably the number one thing in the store that I hear the comment, "I don't really need another (fill in the blank)". In spite of that I continue to grow our collection because of my own fondness for them. I am proud to showcase a pretty eclectic collection that if and when you are ready for another tote bag you can come and find the perfect fit for your tote bag needs.
