SHIZUKU Vegetable Dyed Towel Handkerchief – Eggplant Purple

The rich color of the SHIZUKU Vegetable Dyed Towel Handkerchief in Eggplant Purple is achieved with dyes extracted from discarded Mizunasu eggplants and skins. Grown in Sakai City in the southern region of Osaka Prefecture, the Mizunasu eggplant is famous for its rich texture and unique sweetness. The vegetable dyeing technique is eco friendly, since it uses imperfect vegetables or peeled skins that would otherwise be thrown away. The towels also feature a Jacquard woven motif that combines a high-low sculpted texture with excellent absorbency. 

Use this perfect washcloth in the kitchen. Dries quickly and very absorbent. Not to mention cute as can be with its eggplant jacquard texture.

Meet the Makers

Fukuroya Towel was founded in 1926 and creates towels in the Osaka area made with dyes from vegetables, brewed wine, craft beer, and matcha. They use raw materials that are no longer needed like poorly shaped vegetables, or byproducts from the brewing process. They have also developed a new towel made of washi yarn and recycled cotton that has superior absorbency. Fukuroya Towel pays homage to the agricultural heritage of Osaka and to the tradition of Japanese towel manufacturing by striving for top quality towel production. They are proud to have received "High Quality and Reliability" & "Eco Friendly" designations at the G20 OSAKA SUMMIT 2019.
