Neko Maruke Stacolasassa - Cat with Fish Donburi Bowl
The Maruke Stacolasassa Donburi Bowl features a cat who looks like a thief carrying a bag of fish trying to get away before it is caught. Kanesada Seito reveals their true sense of humor with this series of cat bowls with indescribable expressions. According to my Japanese friend Stacolasassa is more of a sound or expression that signifies when someone is working hard to get something done. One could say this cat is working hard to get away with the fish it caught in it's knapsack. The expression on its face gives away the excitement it feels about getting away with something naughty.
This mino ware donburi bowl is lovely to hold in one's hand. It is smooth and sturdy to hold. The size is great for small amount of food such as ice cream or yogurt or a small bowl of rice. The shape is somewhat cone like with a nice flat bottom.
Kanesada Seito has been making pottery for over 90 years. Since its founding in 1932 by Teiichi Kagohashi as Kanetei Pottery Co., Ltd., the company has been engaged in the production of ceramics and continues to operate its factory located on a hill in Dachi-cho, Toki City.
