Fin Whale Fuwa-Fuwa Towel - Blue

The giant whale on this small towel opens its mouth as it sweeps through the ocean waters trying to catch some little snacks. This towel has the fluffiest and softest texture achieved by using a towel fabric that is woven without twisted threads. It has excellent water absorption and remains soft after washing. 

A fuwa-fuwa towel is a Japanese towel known for its exceptionally soft, lightweight, and "cloud-like" texture—fuwa-fuwa being the Japanese onomatopoeia for fluffy. Often made from 100% cotton using untwisted yarn, these towels offer superior water absorption, quick drying, and low lint.

Meet the Makers

Since 2004 katazome artists Matsuyama Takeshi and Takai Chie produce dyed fabrics by stencil dyeing, dip-dyeing, and printing, and have exhibited their works at many exhibitions and group shows. Their tenugui hand towels and other miscellaneous goods are sold at general merchandise stores in Japan and abroad, and have gained popularity. Katazome is a Japanese method of dyeing fabrics using a resist paste applied through a stencil, typically a rice flour mixture applied with a brush or a tool such as a palette knife.
