The artist Inoue shares this about the illustration, "I drew flowers and fruits that have been popular since ancient times, such as Japanese mountain laurel, loquat, thistle, gentian, magnolia... that appear in botanical illustrations from the Edo period, and that you might encounter while walking with an umbrella." When you think about the fact that flowers and plants that have bloomed and disappeared for hundreds of years continue to exist in the present day and may be seen on the roadsides in your neighborhood... Meet the Makers
Tegamisha is a creative collective based in Tokyo, Japan, dedicated to celebrating the art of paper and illustration. They operate a variety of ventures, including cafes, general stores, and bookstores, and are renowned for organising events such as the Tokyo Flea Market and Paper Expo (Kami-Haku).
They feature the work of artists from all over Japan. Tegamisha takes what they find, edits it with their sensibilities, experiences and passion, and present it to you in an exciting package. This is what they believe to be their mission and I think we can all agree they are doing a swell job of it.
