Sou-Sou Blooming | MT Washi Tape
This washi tape design is a part of a special collaboration with Japanese design firm Sou-Sou, founded in 2002 by Katsuji Wakisaka (Textile designer), Hisanobu Tsujimura (architect), Takeyuki Wakabayashi (producer) and others. Based in Kyoto, Japan, SOU · SOU creates textile designs to depict seasonal beauty of nature founded on the concept of "Creating New Japanese Culture". While poppy and edgy, the brand is using skilled craftspeople and time-tested materials to decorate modern life.
Japanese tend to recognize, validate, and develop each other by saying the word "Sou,sou", or "Yes,yes". which means "I agree with you" and "you're right". They confirm, discover and develop ideas with each other, saying "sou sou" and Sou-Sou believes they are creating human relations and building society through their work.

Meet the Makers
MT is the original brand of washi paper masking tape, created by the 100 year old paper adhesives company Kamoi Kakoshi and produced in Japan. In 2006, the company offered a tour to three women in Tokyo who were using their industrial tapes for beautiful craft projects. Amazed by this surprising and wonderful usage, Kamoi Kakoshi was inspired to develop an entirely new and original category of tape: MT brand washi tape. The superior level of ‘just right’ adhesion allows MT to be easily repositioned on most objects and to be used on painted walls without damaging paint.
