Mouth strengthening is a method of creating a tempered layer (layer of compressive stress) on the glass surface by applying heat to the glass and then cooling it rapidly. This strengthening method is applied only to the mouth of the glass, which is vulnerable to chips. This process makes the glass more durable against chips and less prone to scratches compared to untoughened glass.

Meet the Makers
Aderia is a tableware brand from Ishizuka Glass Co., Ltd., a pioneer in glass products that celebrated its 200th anniversary in December 2019. Ishizuka Glass manufactures a wide range of glass products, from tableware to beverage bottles. Their own factory is equipped with the equipment and craftsmen required for a wide range of manufacturing, and under strict quality control, they supply many of the glass products distributed in Japan. It is said that the company began in 1819, and has since produced a wide range of products. The founder of Ishizuka pursued glass manufacturing after receiving an order from the feudal lord to make Vidro crafts .His first melting method in Japan led him down the path to mass production.
Eventually "ADERIA" was born as the company made a full-scale entry into the tableware and bottle businesses. With product development that was ahead of its time, it became a standard glassware brand for ordinary households. They strive to improve quality and customer satisfaction through a consistent management system based on their strict in-house quality standards which we always love to hear.
