Meet the Makers
WATO is the creation of two sisters who sought to revive the traditional Japanese techniques used by their own mother. They want you to feel like you are holding a bit of Mother Earth in your hands when you hold one of their soaps. They use the guiding principles of Japanese remedies, drawing on ancient knowledge of nourishment and healing through herbs and natural materials. Believing in the restorative power of the plants makes one feel connected to the magical essence of the living planet.
What sets these soaps apart from other handmade soaps is that these ladies create their own colors from scratch and by hand from botanical ingredients. They have also developed beautiful and effective techniques to incorporate these plant matter dyes into their creations.
